Six Mile Post Receives Awards!Dr. Kristie Kemper announced news that The Six Mile Post staff received a total of 17 awards February 3-5 during the Georgia College Press Association's annual press institute in Athens. The staff received 5 first-place awards, including the General Photography Award, 4 second-place awards, 8 third-place awards. Individual award winners were Michael Davis, Andrew Calvert, Kaitlyn Hyde, Ross Rogers, Casey Bass, Scott Hale, Ryan Jones and Erin Baugh. In addition, Kaitlyn Hyde was elected secretary of the GCPA, and Scott Hale was elected to the executive board. (comments)

Zach Green (06), a former financial consultant for Edward Jones Investments who recently took a new position with Ball Container Corp., was honored as the chamber’s Ambassador of the Year. Green was one of the leaders of the chamber’s membership drive in 2011.
