Legacy, the first major gifts campaign in Georgia Highlands College history, is nearing its goal of $5 million. To date, the campaign has raised $4,409,000 – or 88 percent – of its target to fund scholarships, student success centers and professional development activities. Donors contributed $1.02 million for several important initiatives:
- Endowed scholarships
- Student Success Centers
- Emergency Scholarships to provide emergency relief for students facing severe hardships
- Expansion of our flagship nursing program with support from local medical centers
The Legacy campaign has been successfully conducted in phases. The first phase targeted the college community. Faculty and staff contributed at a 100 percent level, nearly unprecedented for such efforts. Since its public rollout, community members who recognize the crucial role education plays in the economy and well-being of Georgia, have shown in impressive amounts their commitment to their communities and to the lives of the next generation. They want to ensure the vitality of these communities and their citizens. And one way to assure that any community continues in economically healthy form is to educate its citizens.
