Since Jon has long been a valued member of this community of scholars, you may know of his many achievements:
He holds the B.A. in English and the M.F.A. in Creative Writing/English from the University of Alabama. Jon’s Ph.D. is in Creative Writing/English from Georgia State University. He directs the Georgia Highlands African American Experience (GHAME) initiative as well as the Brother-2-Brother organization. He is co-director for Foundation Camp (this year’s camp had some 90 students and just concluded a successful two-week run), and was coordinator and instructor in the Writer’s Academy, an after-school program held at four area elementary schools. Jon is the recipient of numerous honors, among them the Martin Luther King Commission Community Service Award, the Heart of the Community Award and the Governor’s Award in Humanities. He is a much-published author and a sought-after presenter/speaker. In all, we are fortunate that he wishes to assume this pivotal leadership role.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Hershey to this important post.
